Overview Common Disputes Our Approach Legal Team FAQ Insights Contact

Is being a lawyer really that lucrative?

In many people’s eyes, the legal profession is seen as both highly profitable and offering great freedom. But after years of practice, I’ve come to realize that being a lawyer is far less profitable—and certainly far less easy—than most people imagine.
First of all, my work constantly involves me in other people’s disputes. Even the smallest task I handle can have a significant impact on my clients’lives and interests. Because of that, I always think things through carefully before making any decision or taking any action. And even after I finish something, I go back and double-check everything to make sure there are absolutely no mistakes. The time investment and psychological pressure are actually extremely high.
Sure, I might look confident and composed when I’m speaking in court—but as the Chinese saying goes: “Ten minutes on stage take ten years of practice offstage.” Every single day, I’m working to improve myself, studying new laws, refining my arguments, and preparing meticulously behind the scenes. Most of this effort is invisible to others.
When you add up all these hidden costs—the long hours, the constant stress, the emotional toll—it becomes clear that this profession demands tremendous dedication. Yet, more often than not, the income I earn doesn’t truly reflect the amount of effort and sacrifice it takes.
